Traditional Willow Log Baskets – Two Sizes
Traditional Willow Log Baskets – Two Sizes
Traditional woven willow log baskets in two useful sizes, with a lovely mix of warm honey and darker brown tones running through the wicker. Perfect for keeping logs and kindling beside the fireplace or wood burner, but just as useful for storing children's toys, shoes and slippers in a hallway, or rolled blankets and throws in a sitting room. Each basket has a generous round opening, a slightly tapered shape, a sturdy woven rim and two twisted willow handles for lifting and carrying. They also make lovely planters for larger indoor plants, with a separate pot and saucer tucked inside. The natural willow brings plenty of texture to a room, while the open shape makes it easy to reach whatever you have stored inside. Available in two sizes, sold individually.

More About This Piece
Willow has long been used in traditional basketmaking because its flexible rods can be woven into strong, practical shapes. Log baskets are a familiar example, designed with wide openings for filling and sturdy handles for moving firewood around the home.
These baskets have closely woven willow sides, reinforced rims and twisted handles. The mix of darker and lighter willow gives the weave depth, while the round, slightly tapered shape works well in both traditional and more pared-back interiors.
Although designed for logs, they're useful well beyond the fireside. Use one in a hallway to gather shoes and slippers, in a playroom for toys, or in a bedroom for spare blankets. They're also particularly good for disguising plastic plant pots — just make sure to use a waterproof inner pot or tray to protect the willow from moisture.
Condition
Natural variations in the colour, thickness and texture of the willow are part of the woven finish. As with traditional wicker baskets, slight irregularities in the weave and shape are to be expected. Keep dry and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.
Why We Love It
We love a proper willow basket, especially one that can be used in so many places around the house. These are just as good filled with logs beside the fire as they are piled with toys or shoes in a busy family home. The darker weave and lighter willow rims look particularly lovely together.
