More About This Piece
Painted in oil on board, the artist has kept things wonderfully simple: a large red crab filling almost the entire composition against layers of deep and electric blue. You can see the texture and movement of the paint across the background, while the crab itself has a wonderfully direct, almost folk-art quality.
The simple dark frame sets the colours off nicely without competing with the painting. Its smaller proportions make it an easy piece to find a home for, particularly amongst other original artwork on a gallery wall or simply leaning on a shelf.
