Round Wicker Bread Tray

Baskets like this were made as practical pieces for everyday use, providing a lightweight way to carry and serve bread around the home and table. The shallow shape makes the contents easy to reach, while the two handles allow the whole tray to be picked up and moved easily.

The circular weave is particularly good viewed from above, which is why these old French bread trays work so well hung on a wall. Use it exactly as it would have been years ago for bread and pastries, fill it with fruit on a kitchen table, or mix it amongst other baskets and old kitchenware on a wall.

In really good used condition, particularly considering its age and original practical use. There are minor signs of age and handling to the wicker, but the basket remains strong and presents very well. Please study the photographs as these form part of the condition description.

Old baskets don't need much explaining. This one has a particularly good round shape, warm colour and really nice weave. We'd hang it straight on the wall, but it's even better that it can still be taken down and used for exactly what it was made for.
