Pair of Handthrown ombré Studio Pottery cups
Pair of Handthrown ombré Studio Pottery cups
A pair of hand-thrown stoneware cups by Miranda, a studio potter based in Cornwall. Perfectly sized for a flat white or morning coffee, they're also lovely for serving homemade soup, yoghurt with fresh fruit or a little dessert. Their handleless shape makes them comforting to hold, while the fluted sides add a tactile detail. Finished in a rich chestnut and brick-coloured glaze across the upper section, contrasting with a deep blue glaze towards the base creating an ombré effect. The two colours meet and blend across the raised vertical stripes, creating lovely variations in tone and depth. Individually thrown and glazed, these are one-off studio pottery pieces, sold together as a pair.

More About This Piece
Handmade by Miranda in Cornwall, these two stoneware cups have been individually thrown on the potter's wheel and finished with a distinctive fluted or faceted surface. The vertical detailing gives the cups an interesting shape and texture, with the glaze settling differently across the raised edges and recessed areas.
Their rich chestnut colour has earthy brick and reddish-brown tones, creating a lovely depth to the finish. Although ideal for flat whites and smaller coffees, their shape also lends itself to serving food. Try them for a small bowl of soup, breakfast yoghurt with berries, or individual desserts. As with all individually made studio pottery, there are slight differences between the two cups in their shape, colour and glaze.
Sold as a pair.
Condition
New, handmade studio pottery. Each tumbler has natural variations in its shape, glaze and finish, reflecting the hand-throwing and firing process. No two are exactly alike.
Why We Love It
The size is spot on for a flat white, and we particularly like the way the teal glaze runs down the sides, creating a slightly different finish on every cup. Simple, useful pottery that's a pleasure to pick up every morning.
