A brilliant pair of French bedside tables, deliberately mismatched but clearly belonging together. One has three useful drawers, while the other combines a single drawer with an open cupboard below, giving each side of the bed slightly different storage. Both retain their original warm solid wood finish and decorative metal handles, with shaped tops, scalloped aprons and elegant curved legs ending in little scroll feet. They are in exceptional condition and make a far more interesting alternative to a conventional matching pair.

More About This Piece

These work so well together because the proportions, detailing and finish are closely matched, while the storage is completely different. One gives you three drawers for keeping everything tucked away, while the other has a single drawer above a generous open compartment for books, baskets or anything you want within easy reach.

Both retain their original finish rather than having been stripped or refinished, along with the decorative metal handles. The shaped tops, small carved details, curved legs and scalloped lower edges give them just enough detail without being overly fussy.

Condition

Exceptional used condition with only minor marks, knocks and wear consistent with age and previous use. Both retain their original finish and handles. Please study the photographs as these form part of the condition description.

Why We Love It

Matching without actually matching. We love that each table does something different but the pair still looks completely right together. The original finish is particularly good, and finding two French bedsides that sit this happily alongside one another was reason enough to bring them home.
