More About This Piece

The composition is dominated by the large sailing boat in the foreground, with its oversized cream sails taking up much of the canvas. Two smaller boats disappear into the distance, creating a good sense of depth.

We particularly like the contrast between the relatively simple sails and the much more heavily worked water and shoreline. Blues, greens, cream and yellow make up most of the palette, punctuated by the brilliant red roof of the house and smaller red details along the water’s edge.

It is unframed, so can be displayed as it is or framed to suit your space.

Why We Love It

It’s bright without being too polished. We love those huge pale sails against the blue and the little red-roofed house tucked into the trees. There’s also something really good about the roughly painted water — the closer you look, the more colour you see in it.
