A wonderfully bold original landscape oil painting on board, filled with strong reds, deep blues, greens and flashes of yellow and orange. The loosely painted scene depicts a small group of buildings set amongst hills and trees beneath a glowing sky, with broad areas of colour giving the whole piece an expressive, almost abstract feel. More About This Piece

This one immediately caught our eye for its use of colour. Rather than trying to capture the landscape in precise detail, the artist has built the scene from broad brushstrokes and blocks of contrasting colour.

A vivid red landscape runs through the centre, with dark blue hills and trees behind, small pale buildings to one side and a wonderfully bright yellow and orange sky above. Greens and turquoise across the foreground balance all those warmer tones.

The painting sits in a simple dark wooden frame with a slim gold-coloured inner border, which works particularly well with the brighter colours without distracting from the artwork.

An easy original painting to add to an existing gallery wall, but there's enough going on here for it to hold its own displayed separately too.

Why We Love It

The colour. It's completely unapologetic – red ground, blue hills, green foreground and that brilliant yellow-orange sky. We also like that the landscape is just loose enough to leave something to the imagination.
