An original oil painting on canvas depicting a busy harbour scene with fishing boats in the foreground and a row of buildings climbing towards green hills behind. Painted with loose, expressive brushstrokes and plenty of colour, the deep blue water is broken up by red, yellow and green boats, with terracotta rooftops and a bright blue sky above. The boats and their tall masts draw you into the foreground, while the jumble of waterfront buildings gives the painting real depth. More About This Piece

The paint has been applied quite freely, with the shapes of the boats, buildings and hillside picked out through colour rather than fine detail. The two larger fishing boats dominate the foreground, one deep red and the other yellow and green, against dark blue water.

Behind them is a busy waterfront of pale buildings, terracotta-coloured roofs and smaller boats, with a dark green hillside running across the horizon. The visible brushwork throughout gives the surface plenty of texture and movement.

Unframed, so it can be hung simply as it is or framed to suit your own interior.

Why We Love It

It’s the colour that got us with this one. The yellow and red boats against that dark water are brilliant, and we like how loose the whole thing feels. It’s a proper busy little harbour scene without being fussy.
