A large French enamel bucket originally used by RAC, a French commercial laundry company. Finished in a brilliant grey and white splatter enamel with bold RAC lettering to the front, it has a tall cylindrical shape, rolled rim and simple metal handles to either side. Its generous proportions make it incredibly useful around the home – use it for logs and kindling, bathroom storage, kitchen storage or as a large planter.

More About This Piece

Originally used by RAC, a French commercial laundry company, this substantial enamel bucket was made for working use rather than as a domestic decorative piece. The simple RAC lettering would have clearly identified it within the business, while the enamelled surface provided a hard-wearing and easily cleaned finish. Today its tall proportions and simple handles make it particularly useful for storage.

Condition

Good used condition with plenty of evidence of its previous working life. There are scratches, marks, surface rust and areas of enamel loss, particularly around the rim, handles and lower edge. The RAC lettering remains clearly visible and we've left the grey and white splatter enamel exactly as found.

Why We Love It

The combination of the splatter enamel and RAC lettering does it for us. Knowing it came from a French commercial laundry gives the piece some proper context, but it's also genuinely useful – big enough for logs, towels, loo rolls or a substantial house plant.
