A stunning quality French oak dining table with a stripped parquet top, softly shaped edges and a wonderfully worn grey-blue painted base. The clever extending design takes the table from 120cm to 200cm, with a matching leaf at each end that follows the shape of the main table and slides neatly away underneath when not required. Available to buy as the table alone, the six matching chairs alone, or together as a complete dining set. The six oak chairs have carved detailing to the backs, shaped legs and traditional woven rush seats, and work particularly well with the paler oak of the tabletop. A great everyday table when closed, with plenty of extra room when you need it. The top has been finished with a clear wax.

More About This Piece

The extension system is one of the best things about this table. Rather than having separate leaves that need storing elsewhere, the extensions are at either end which pull out when needed and sits neatly beneath the main top when closed. Both leaves have been made to follow the shaped edge of the table, so it still looks properly considered when fully extended.

The parquet top has been left in natural oak, while the base retains its old grey-blue painted finish. The six matching oak chairs have been stripped back to a much paler finish, with carved detailing across the top of each back and woven rush seats.

Choose from the table only, the set of six chairs, or the complete table and six-chair set.

Condition

Good used condition with wear, knocks, marks and variations from previous use. The distressed newly painted table base has areas of rubbing and wear to the grey-blue finish. The oak top and extension leaves have been stripped and waxed , but do show some signs of use. The chairs have been stripped and are in good used condition with some expected marks and variations to the oak and rush seats. Please refer closely to the photographs.

Why We Love It

It’s the combination of the parquet top and that worn grey-blue base for us, but the extension system makes it particularly good. At 120cm it doesn’t take over the room, then both ends pull out to give you a full 200cm table when everyone turns up. And best of all, there are no loose extension leaves to find somewhere to store.
