Enamel Baker’s Measuring Bucket
Enamel Baker’s Measuring Bucket
An old Dutch enamel baker’s measuring bucket made for Zeelandia, the long-established professional bakery company founded in the Netherlands in 1900. Finished in white enamel with black edging, a metal carrying handle with wooden grip and the original crowned Zeelandia logo to the front, the inside has a clearly printed measuring scale running from 5 to 15 litres. Originally a practical piece of commercial bakery equipment, it’s now a useful for storage bucket for logs or kindling, or used as a planter in the garden.

More About This Piece
Zeelandia was founded in Zierikzee in the Netherlands in 1900 by the Doeleman family and developed into a specialist supplier to professional bakeries. Its first product was a preparation used in making Dutch beschuit, with the business subsequently developing ingredients and products intended to make commercial baking easier and more consistent. The company was awarded the Dutch Royal predicate in 1950 and remains headquartered in Zierikzee today.
The 15-litre graduated scale inside this bucket points clearly to its working bakery origins. Rather than being ordinary domestic enamelware, this was a piece associated with the professional baking trade, which makes it a much more interesting find.
Condition
Good used condition with marks, scratches, small areas of enamel loss and some surface rust from its previous working life. The Zeelandia branding and internal measuring scale remain clear and the wooden handle grip is present. Please study the photographs as these form part of the condition description.
Why We Love It
We love old commercial kitchenware, particularly when you can trace where it came from. The big Zeelandia logo, 15-litre scale and wooden handle make this far more interesting than an ordinary enamel bucket. We'd have it out on display in a kitchen rather than hiding it away in a cupboard.
