Coir Rope Decorative Boat Fenders
Coir Rope Decorative Boat Fenders
New decorative boat fenders made from thick natural coir rope, with a traditional cylindrical shape and integral rope loop for hanging. Inspired by the rope fenders once commonly seen protecting working boats, they have a wonderfully rough, heavily textured surface and warm natural brown colour. They’re particularly good for bringing a subtle maritime reference into a coastal home without resorting to obvious seaside decoration — hang one from an old hook, or use them outside amongst reclaimed garden pieces. They also work brilliantly as decor for coastal pubs, seafood restaurants.

More About This Piece
Coir is a tough natural fibre taken from the outer husk of coconuts and has a long history of use for rope, particularly where a coarse, hard-wearing natural fibre was needed. Traditional rope fenders provided a protective buffer between boats, quays and other vessels, absorbing the knocks that come with mooring.
These newly made versions take their shape and heavily woven construction from traditional marine fenders. The thick coir gives them a great rough texture, while the loop at the top makes them easy to hang from a hook, peg or length of rope.
They’re sold as decorative pieces rather than certified marine equipment.
Condition
Newly made from natural coir fibre. Variations in colour, texture, weave and loose fibres are normal and part of the natural finish.
Why We Love It
We like coastal pieces that don't scream seaside, and these are exactly that. The shape gives a nod to their maritime origins, but really it’s all about that thick, rough coir and natural brown colour. They look especially good piled together or mixed with old lobster pots and reclaimed garden pieces.
