1950's TASCOS Mill basket
£265.00
An impressive basket in impeccable condition, original rope handles & branding, with no sign of worm. Ten Acres & Stirchley Street Co-operative Society (now known as the Co-Operative) opened its first shop in 1875 in Birmingham. By the 1950s, "TASCOS" as it became known was the largest retailer in the area selling everything from food to boots and shoes, clothing and furniture. It owned a large dairy, bakery, farms and even a plant nursery. This basket dates back to then and would of been used to transport goods from the mills. Now a great domestic piece to use for linens or as a coffee table in a lounge.
