More about our Tribal finds
Some of our recent finds are super rare vessels that originate from the last nomadic tribe of Nepal 'Raute tribe'. The Raute are hunter gatherers, living in temporary camps south of the Himalayas. The survival of the tribe is becoming increasingly difficult with the impact of deforestation and industrialisation, with less than 150 now survive and are resisting attempts to move into permanent settlements.
Men will shape wood collected from the surrounding forest into furniture to trade with local villages for grains and vegetables.
These wares were used to transport water & food back camp in the Achham forest. They make interesting sculptural decor in rustic interior spaces and will certainly catch the imagine of others. Use as a one off statement on a shelf or group amongst other curios.
