We all have that one person who every year presents a challenge when trying to find the perfect gift. Perhaps you think they already have everything, or maybe you’ve asked what they may like, only to be told they don’t need anything.
Somehow we seem to have lost our way when gifting, sometimes trying to impress or simply buying a gift because you feel you should. This sense of duty often means that although gifts are given with good intentions our recipients are often given things they don’t need or have a use for & go to waste. This is exactly the reason why we are putting our handmade pottery range front and centre to ask “is this the perfect gift”.
As diverse as we are as a population there are many things we share in common, one of those things is the obligatory morning brew or that cuppa to help you unwind after a long days work. Many of us carry out this daily ritual without much thought, often grabbing the first cup from the front of the cupboard with little consideration, but what if this universal “me” time could be enhanced by giving a gift that can be enjoyed daily and will last a lifetime & is 'the go to mug'.
That is where our Relish handmade mugs come in - Whilst some may see the humble mug as mundane and everyday, we feel that each of our mugs offers comfort and a sense of special that cannot be emulated by mass produced ceramics. Each of our mugs are hand thrown using stoneware clay before being dipped into one of our signature glazes, before being kiln fired to perfection. Their handmade nature means that although similar, no two are the same, it’s this uniqueness that adds to the special feeling you get every time you use one. We are often told by customers that their Relish mug is now the go to mug for that stolen five minutes away from the stresses of everyday life, This brings us a lot of satisfaction as this is exactly what we envisioned when we started our business.
So yes, it is only a mug, but what if your gift became “the” mug.
We offer a range of handmade pottery in our Devon based store as well as on our website relishlifestyle.co.uk. Our personal favourite has to be our Relish mug. A little over eight years ago when we first found out that we would be opening our store we knew that we wanted to offer our own “in house” pottery range and so sought out a potter who could not only bring our designs to life but also somebody who we felt we could work with long term so we could develop new lines and finishes. Now just over eight years later we still work with that same potter and have expanded our range to include tableware such as plates and bowls as well as being able to offer one off bespoke items. We have even made personalised items with names and dates on them. In fact we still have our very first test mugs from before we opened our store and we still use them on a daily basis.
We were also keen to be able to support another business whilst keeping things local thats why all our pottery is handmade in Cornwall less than an hour from our store. Our potter is called Miranda and our business would not be the same without her.
