No8 Partnership Chelsea
Reimagining a Timeless Dental Reception Lounge
In the heart of Chelsea, London, we were invited to transform the reception lounge of a much-loved private dental practice that had remained largely untouched for over sixty years. The brief was clear from the outset: create a welcoming, elegant, and deeply comfortable environment that felt less like a clinical waiting room and more like a beautifully curated living space.
This project was about far more than aesthetics. It was about preserving the warmth and legacy of a family practice that has cared for generations of clients, while introducing a fresh and refined atmosphere that reflected the kindness and professionalism of the team behind it.
Designing a “Home From Home”
The existing space no longer reflected the experience the practice wanted to offer its patients. While the team themselves were incredibly warm and welcoming, the interiors felt tired and dated, lacking the comfort and character that today’s visitors seek.
Our vision was to create a calm and inviting lounge where patients could truly relax before appointments — a space that encouraged people to pause, enjoy a cup of tea, read the paper, or simply unwind while partners explored the boutiques and cafés of Chelsea nearby.
Rather than designing a traditional reception area, we approached the project as we would a private residential interior. Comfort, texture, lighting, and atmosphere became central to every design decision.
Respecting the Building’s Heritage
One of the most important aspects of this project was sensitivity to both the architecture and the long-standing clientele. Families have visited the practice for generations, and we wanted the redesign to honour that history while gently bringing the interiors into a new era.
We carefully balanced timeless finishes with contemporary touches, ensuring the space felt elevated but never intimidating. Soft layered textures, warm lighting, elegant furnishings, and thoughtful styling all worked together to create a sense of understated luxury synonymous with Chelsea living.
The result is a reception lounge that feels sophisticated yet relaxed — polished without losing personality.
A Thoughtful Client Experience
Interior design has the power to shape how people feel the moment they enter a room. In hospitality and healthcare environments especially, creating emotional comfort is just as important as functionality.
Every element within the space was considered through the lens of the client experience:
- Comfortable seating arrangements that encourage relaxation
- Warm, ambient lighting to soften the atmosphere
- Carefully selected materials and finishes that feel timeless and tactile
- Styling details that create familiarity and ease
- A layout designed to feel intuitive, calm, and welcoming
The final space now reflects the exceptional level of care the practice offers its patients every day.
The Transformation
What was once an outdated waiting room has become a beautifully layered reception lounge that feels warm, elegant, and effortlessly inviting. The transformation has not only enhanced the visual identity of the practice, but also improved how patients interact with and experience the space.
Projects like this remind us that thoughtful interior design can completely change the energy of a room — and in turn, positively impact the people who use it.

Kind Words From The Client
“What a wonderful day it was seeing our wait room being transformed by your expert taste and design. We have had such excellent warm and fabulous feedback from our patients. Andrew and I, as well as all the staff and partners are just thrilled with the outcome.
Thank you hugely and massively for your fantastic organisation and generally just looking after us all the way through this project. It was so appreciated.
We very much look forward to an opportunity to work with you again.
Do please pop by if you're ever in London — oh and by the way those mugs your kindly gifted us hold the best cup of tea! Firmly became my favourite vessel at home!!
Our very best wishes,
Clare & Andrew”
